Jung Wooyoung

i thought i had it all figured out. the fame, the games, the cheers? they felt like everything. but then the world decided otherwise, and suddenly nothing felt like it was mine anymore. i lost more than a team, more than a title. i lost a piece of myself. and now…now i’m just learning how to breathe again, how to be me when no one is watching

Rule 001.

  • regarding plotting

I will plot with you, I will brainstorm with you, but we have to be able to have an actual conversation. Do not bother approaching me if you are going to expect me to come up with the entire plot by myself. If that's the case- go choose from the plots I already have posted. I am absolutely okay with random starters as long as you stick to the rules in this section.

Rule 002.

  • regarding mature threads

I am 26 years old. In order to do Mature Threads I expect you to be 21+ and I will be verifying if the thread is going to be maturely themed. As for the thread itself, we can discuss the content in the case of choosing to commit to a mature plot, please keep in mind though. I will not be partaking in copious amounts of smut as Areum, out of respect for our OOC age gap. Areum will be interactable for romance between those born between 2001 and 2005.

Rule 003.

  • regarding tagging

I do not want anything on my wall for the time being. Threads are to go in rooms and rooms only unless the plot is a mature thread, in which pms are the appropriate location. If you are uncertain where the appropriate place is to post a starter, I am a simple tag away. I do, adore open/random starters. As long as you follow my rules here, again, I fully encourage them.

Rule 004.

  • regarding pace

My timezone is gmt-8 / pacific-stardard time. My pace varies depending on the threads length and literacy, as well as my OOC life and general muse for the thread. I will keep you updated throughout responses, so please do not poke me before it has been a week of silence.

Rule 005.

  • regarding writing style

My style varies between para and novella. Depending on my muse and OOC schedule I lean more towards literate, light novella. Currently I am not busy and so I will be writing in semi-literate to literate, multi-para third person or longer. I do not expect you to also use third person, however I do wish for mirrored responses, I will mirror your responses. If you would like me to start the thread I will, however my starters are always abnormally sized. Please do not feel pressure to base your responses on the size of my starter, I love to yap.

Rule 006.

  • regarding limits

Do not poke me before 1 week of radio silence. If you god mod my character, I will not continue to plot with you. I actually have grown to appreciate pre-plotted romance more than dating around in the roleplay. If you think your character would match Areum well, feel free to reach out for the connection so we can chat it over. Lastly, do not start in character drama involving my character without prior consent.

Personality

before everything blew up, he was easy to like. confident without really trying, always quick with a laugh or a one liner, the kind of guy who made a room lighter just by being in it. baseball wasn’t just what he did, it was who he was, and he carried it with a mix of swagger and heart that made people want to root for him. he lived for the game, for the wins, for the late nights with teammates that felt more like family.

now, he’s different. quieter, sharper around the edges, like he’s always bracing for someone to bring up what he’s trying so hard to forget. he doesn’t chase the spotlight anymore, doesn’t even want it....though sometimes, without meaning to, pieces of that old version of him slip through. a smile, a joke, a softness. he’s still in there somewhere, under the weight of everything that changed, figuring out who he is when the cheers are gone.

Personality

Positives

  •   charismatic    people just gravitate to him, whether he’s trying or not. he has that kind of energy that fills a room and makes it feel warmer.

  •   loyal    once you have his trust, he’s all in. doesn’t matter if it’s inconvenient or messy, he’ll stand by the people he cares about.

  •   resilient    he’s been knocked down more than once, but he always finds a way to get back up, even if it takes him a while.

Negatives

  •   guarded    after what happened, he keeps most people at arm’s length. letting someone in feels dangerous, so he rarely does.

  •   reckless    when emotions get too heavy, he acts before thinking. whether it’s drinking too much or picking a fight, he dives headfirst.

  •   stubborn    once he’s set on something, good luck changing his mind. he’ll dig his heels in even if it hurts him.

Preference

likes
late nights, street food, loud music, dancing, old movies, motorbikes, thunderstorms, warm skin, stray cats, summer heat
dislikes
waiting, silence, hospitals, broken promises, cold weather, authority, mornings, nosy people, crowds, lies, bitter coffee

History

  •   March 2024.    his debut game with the lotte giants as a rookie center fielder, hitting his first home run in the same stadium he has been attending since he was a mere child. the crowd roared louder than he ever could have imagined. it was at that moment, he knew this was the best moment of his life.

  •   August 2024.    he goes on a routine late-night drive with his love, with the windows down and music spilling into the night, feeling like he was on top of the world. his boyfriend proposed that night, and the two end up planning their wedding for the following year in america.

  •   September 2024.    towards the end of the season, the video scandal drops online. panic ensues, his phone buzzing nonstop, headlines tearing apart everything he worked for, paparazzi and haters gathering outside of the giant's building and following them to practices and games to heckle him. he ends up being benched, hidden from the cameras and the commentary.

  •   December 2024.    wooyoung and his boyfriend separate, as he is also receiving horrific amounts of hate mail and threats online. he is called into a team meeting hours later in which he was told his contract would be terminated, sitting in silence as the words hit line after line, not caring about the payout or the nda they promise him it was never about the money.

  •   January 2025.    wooyoung spends months staying in bed, keeping his blinds shut tight to avoid the press, letting the world move on without him. he was heartbroken, he felt as if his passion had come to an end, as baseball was all he had ever known. he changes his appearance, starts drinking and partying, though nothing seems to make him feel better.

  •   June 2025.    wooyoung receives a call from his uncle in willith beach. he is kind on the phone, telling him that his parents are really concerned about his mental health. he informs him he has a spot in the shop for him, and that he can come and stay there for a while if needed.

  •   August 2025.    decides to take the offer from his cousin and move to willith beach. the ocean wind was the first thing he notices, blowing breezily in his face. his heart is still heavy, but with a slight spark of hope shining through.

BIOGRAPHY    born and raised in busan, he grew up only a short walk from sajik stadium where the lotte giants played. baseball was everything to him, and from the time he was old enough to hold a bat, it was clear where his life was headed. by his early twenties, he had made it. he was signed with the giants, praised for his discipline and natural talent.but fame came with eyes everywhere, and when a private video of him with his partner leaked online, his world collapsed. two years achieving his biggest dreams, gone overnight. in a country where being himself was still dangerous, the press tore him apart, and the team quietly released him. the fall from hero to headline was sudden, brutal, and left him with nothing but silence and shame.in the months that followed, he barely left his apartment. baseball had been his identity, and without it, he didn’t know who he was anymore. messages from fans, friends, even family flooded in, but he couldn’t bring himself to answer until his cousin, who owned a surf shop in willith beach, who finally reached out. he told him to come, to rest, to let the ocean clear his head. with nowhere else to turn, he packed a small bag and left korea behind.now in willith beach, he spends his days helping out at the shop, learning the rhythms of the town, and trying to remember what it feels like to just exist without the weight of the world watching. he doesn’t know what comes next, but for the first time in years, he has space to breathe.

they’ve always been close, sharing summers and holidays together, even if distance pulled them apart at times. when wooyoung arrives in willith beach, they’re the first to welcome him, eager to help him settle in and find his rhythm again.

they’ve followed wooyoung’s career for years, memorizing every highlight and every game he played. when he moves to willith beach, they can’t help but approach, eager to ask questions, hear stories, and maybe get a glimpse of the person behind the headlines.

they grew up in the same neighborhood and have known each other for years, exchanging jokes, pranks, and teasing from way back. seeing him again in town sparks all the old habits, and they can’t resist ribbing him about his past fame while keeping things light.
